6.3.6. 豎寫日文永遠由上到下, 由右到左嗎?

相同於豎寫日文由上到下,由右到左(例如, 小說, 報紙, 雜誌, 漫畫等), 日文也可以由左到右的橫寫(例如, 電子出版物, email, 印刷廣告, 電視字幕, 報紙標題).雖然現在較不常見, 日文也可以由右到左的橫寫(百年老店的招牌上仍然可以看得到).

但是現在大多數的日文印刷物都是由左到右的橫寫, 學習日語的學生應練習豎寫及閱讀, 因為報紙及小說還是印製由上到下的豎寫.
